According to the interview, W.A.B.C. Radio held a competition in 1965 to design an award that would be presented to The Beatles - the interviewer, Bruce Morrow, states that the medals were made by Cartier in New York, although there are no marks on the medal to indicate this. The medal in this Lot was presented to Paul McCartney live on air in a broadcast from the Warwick Hotel prior to the Shea Stadium concert, 15th August, 1965.
