Lot Essay

While not as immediately typical of Fatimid jewellery as the preceding lot, it is probable that this bracelet also comes from a similar origin. Simpler silver and silver-gilt examples of the same form have been excavated in a wide area, notably Tiberias, but also in sites in Southern Russia (Hasson, Rachel: Early Islamic Jewellery, Jerusalem, 1987, no.90, p.73). The band of the present bracelet is also similar to another example from the Harari Collection (Hasson, op.cit, no.92, p.74).
