Each of teardrop form in the Persian taste, painted with brightly coloured garlands of flowers and paler ferns suspended from a band of lappets gilt below the knop, similar bands gilt above the central knop and footrim, the knop itself and the foot gilt with lozenges, gilt line rim

Lot Essay

The vase 'Delhy' was designed by Jules-Constant-Jean-Batiste Peyre, chief designer at Sèvres 1845-1848 and again 1856-1871. The present pair of vases is the smaller of the two sizes in which the shape was produced.
