This design is Daisy Makeig-Jones' personal adaptation of The Legend of Croquemitaine, about Charlemagne and his knights. It depicts Mitaine, the god-daughter of Charlemagne, on a mission to reach the Fortress of Fear, where her enemy lives. She encounters the spirits of those who failed to reach the Fortress holding flaming candles representing their souls. The toad-like Fairy of Desert and the Yellow Dwarf attempt to mislead her and other travellers. Fairy animals, who are white with pink eyes, act as messengers between Earth and Faerie. The White Rabbit who was Alice's guide to Wonderland is also represented.
