London: for the author, 1723. 2° (300 x 190mm), title and running headlines within black funereal border (lightly browned throughout), in a SETTLE BINDING of contemporary calf gilt, arms of Earl Cowper on sides (very rubbed). Provenance: Panshanger Library (bookplate). Funeral poems were one of Settle's specialities. He even wrote two earlier poems with the same title, one to the memory of Dr. Martin Lister (1712) and one to Joseph Addison (1719).
