The hood with fretwork panels to the sides and above the door, brass-capped pilasters, with foliate marquetry to the unusually-shaped trunk door, the bombé plinth raised on carved feet, 13¾ in. wide dial with foliate spandrels to silvered and arcaded chapter ring, signed JOHANNES J.S ASMUS ALKMAAR, matted centre with silvered seconds ring around date aperture, ringed winding holes, central alarm-setting disc, painted figures to revolving disc giving day of week and zodiacal symbol, the painted arch (losses to paint) with rolling moon and age of moon indications, movement with anchor escapement, Dutch strike and alarm on two bells
