Lot Essay

The shape and glaze of this vase are based on Song guanyao prototypes, such as the vase illustrated in The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art: A Handbook of the Collection, 1993, p.297
A similar vase from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, was included in the Hoyt Memorial Exhibition, and illustrated in the Catalogue, no.469
