The tripod stand on four leaf-capped lion's paw monopodiae, hung above with drop-rings, with central detachable lamp with detachable cover, the jug with part-ivory handle with female mask and scroll terminals, the hinged domed cover with bud finial and short spout chased beneath with acanthus scrolls, the stand and jug with basketweave borders, the jug engraved with a coat-of-arms, marked on frame, lamp, lamp, cover jug and jug cover

The arms are those of Ridley, with the cadency mark for the third son, impaling Farrer, for Rev. Henry Colborne Ridley, Rector of Hambledon (1780-1832) and his wife Mary (d.1837), eldest daughter of James Farrer of Lincoln's Inn Fields, whom he married in 1808. Rev. Ridley's eldest brother was Sir Matthew White Ridley 3nd Bt., M.P. for Newcastle-upon-Tyne and his second brother also served as an M.P. and was created Baron Colborne in 1839.
