With D-shaped brown marble top above a panelled frieze mounted with entrelacs and fitted with a drawer, above two drawers decorated sans traverse and mounted with a single vase, the rounded angles with simulated fluting headed by swagged clasps, on slightly cabriole legs terminating in paw feet, stamped 'I Leclere' and 'EHB', with a label inscribed '58', with a chalk inscription 'E5004 SOTHS' and with a marble top inscribed '35D', the back legs probably replaced

Lot Essay

Jacques-Antoine Leclere, maître in 1779.

The 'EHB' brand is that of the London entrepreneur marchand-mercier and dealer Edward Holmes Baldock (1777-1845) who supplied so many of the great early nineteenth century English collectors, particularly George IV the Duke of Northumberland, George Byng and the 5th Duke of Buccleuch and 7th Duke of Queensberry.
