The bowed bleu turquin marble top with moulded edge above a frieze mounted with female medallions flanked by stylised palmettes and foliate wreaths, on bois citronnier turned tapering legs headed by swans capitals and terminating in foliate-wrapped sabots, the back square-sectioned legs headed by stepped capitals with stylised leaves and palmettes and joined by a breakfront plinth, the 'JACOB D R. MESLEE' slightly uneven but probably authentic

Lot Essay

François-Honoré-Georges Jacob and Georges Jacob employed the stamp Jacob D. rue Meslée between 1803-13.

An identical console, probably the pair, was sold anonymously at Sotheby's Monaco, 16 June 1990, lot 908.
