Lot Essay

This model is inspired by the gueridon delivered in 1809 by Jacob-Desmalter et Cie. for the cabinet particulier du petit appartement de l'Impératrice at Fontainebleau. The original preparatory drawing has also recently returned to the château de Fontainebleau (illustrated in J.P. Samoyault, Meubles entrés sous le Premier Empire, Paris, 2004, no. 180, fig.180a).
