Engine: four cylinder, overhead-valve, 1,074cc, 20hp at 3,000rpm; Gearbox: three speed manual; Suspension: front and rear quarter-elliptic leaf springs; Brakes: two wheel drum. Right hand drive

Rover's bold pitch for the 9/20hp was 'There's twenty good horsepower in the overhead-valve four cylinder engine of the Rover 'Nine' - while as for reliability - well, four of them competed in the London to Land's End Trial and all of them Won Gold medals' Priced at £185 for either two or four seater, it was without doubt a popular model, some 13,000 leaving the factory between 1924-27.

The registration pre-fix of 'PP' confirms this Rover to have been sold new in the Home Counties under Buckinghamshire County Council. The date of its first allocation to the road was 30th January 1926, which we have been able to gauge from its continuation log book, dated 1960. Precisely who owned the car in this intervening period is not known, but by 8th February 1960 it was the property of Richard Webb of Bedford St, London, WC1.

It cannot have been too many years before the car was snapped up by the Sharpe Family in their early 1960s buying spree, but like so many of the vehicles its use after their acquisition can only have been for a modest period before it was consigned to long term storage. That storage in a farm barn has not been kind to the car and its condition can only be described as derelict, with notable damage to the bonnet and hoodframe. This said, the car does appear to be predominantly complete and so would make a sensible basis for restoration.

It is sold with the log book noted above and a V5 document.
