A pair of Empire bronze and ormolu candlesticks
each modelled with the figure of a classically draped maiden, holding a rope and standing by a torchère, the lamp stands with acanthus wrapped nozzles above circular drip pans, the bulbous columns with lanceolate leaf stems on rectangular altar pedestals with Vestal Virgin mounts, the octagonal malachite veneered plinths decorated with mounts portraying figures of Cupid with torchères, profile portrait heads, cornucopiae and atheniennes, with leaf cast galleries, restored, the malachite veneer later, Austrian or Russian, early 19th century -- 27¾in. (70.5cm) high
