signed Troughton & Simms LONDON, the 13-inch long telescope with ray-shade lens cap, bubble level, rack and pinion focusing and cross-hair adjustment screws, four turned columns from the baseplate supporting a glazed compass over the telescope, with edgebar needle and clamp, eight-point wind rose, two degree scales and signature, on a four-screw tripod mounting with brass-mounted mahogany tripod; and a 19th-Century lacquered-brass surveying level signed T. Cooke, York, the 7-inch long telescope with draw-tube focusing and inbuilt bubble level, raised with a sprung vertical adjustment screw on a staff mounting, in a fitted mahogany case -- 22.7cm.
