Pène Du Bois, who on the title-page describes himself "U.S. Editor of "Le Livre," was connected with Bradstreet, one of three indigenous bookbinders whom Robert Hoe, in his lecture on "Bookbinding as Fine Art" in 1886, described as "favorably known to American amateurs, viz Smith, Bradstreet and Matthews."
