FIRST EDITION. A very good copy of a rare example of an illustrated James first edition. The bleak story of a young girl victimized by the two men in her life (her father and her suitor) was first adapted into film in 1949 under the title "The Heiress." A more recent version was made in 1997, starring Albert Finney. BAL 10551; Edel & Laurence a15A.
