The silvered dial signed Thomas Mercer Maker to the Admiralty St Albans England No. 17, Roman chapter ring, seconds ring at VI and up-and-down ring calibrated 0-8, blued steel hands, the movement with main assembly with three turned brass pillars carrying the chain fusee spring barrel and centre wheel, spotted plates signed Thomas Mercer St. Albans No. 17, the sub-assembly carrying the remainder of the train, the escapement with palladium helical spring and cut bimetallic compensated balance, transverse mounted Mercer flat-strip steel detent with jewelled locking stone and adjustable foot, the dial plate numbered 1171N, brass bowl with spring-loaded winding cover, the inner punch-numbered 31, the brass-bound three-tier case with vacant brass inlaid cartouche to the top lid, the centre with silver plaque engraved The Queen's Silver Jubilee 1977 beneath a crown and within a laurel wreath, drop handles to the sides; together with the original green canvas-covered travelling box
