An Early Victorian gilt-brass giant striking carriage clock

The case with typical large reeded handle to the bevel glazed top set with repeat button, solid rear door with shuttered apertures for winding and hand-set and slides for escapement regulation and strike/silent, the dial boldly engraved with scrolling foliage and signed James McCabe Royal Exchange London 2777 in a cartouche beneath the Roman chapter ring with delicate blued steel distaff hands and recessed engine turned subsidiary seconds ring, the movement with five front-pinned pillars, twin chain fusees, maintaining power, gilt escapement platform with cut bimetallic balance and underslung lever escapement, strike and repeat on a blued steel gong on the backplate with further signature James McCabe London 2777
