A George I walnut longcase clock, circa 1715
The stepped caddy top with blind fret panels and two brass ball and spire finials, inset brass columns and glazed side panels, the trunk door with brass-lined lenticle, the plinth on stepped foot, the 12 in. square brass dial with engraved border, mask and foliate spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with fleur-de-lys half hour markers and diamond half quarter hour markers, subsidiary seconds ring, oval signature plaque inscribed John Shaw/London above date aperture with engraved edge, steel hands, the eight day movement with five ringed pillars, anchor escapement and rack strike; case with restorations -- 97 in. (246.5 cm.) high
