A Queen Anne walnut and arabesque marquetry longcase clock, circa 1705
With all over marquetry to the front and line inlaid panels to the sides, the hood with inset brass-capped columns and glazed side panels, the trunk door with brass-framed lenticle glass, on partially re-built plinth, the 12 in. square brass dial with foliate scroll engraving to the borders, cherub and coronet spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with cruciform half hour and half quarter hour markers, signed JOHN BERRY LONDON, the matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring, ringed winding holes and scroll and basket engraving around the date aperture, blued steel later hands, the eight day movement with five ringed pillars, anchor escapement and inside countwheel strike on bell -- 85½ in. (217 cm.) high
