A George III mahogany month-going longcase regulator
The 10 in. sq. silvered regulator dial overlaid with a breakarch silvered mask signed George Margetts London, bolt-and-shutter maintaining power lever to the right side, blued steel seconds and sweep minute hands, the hours displayed in an upturned aperture with a revolving disc behind, the movement with six robust baluster pillars pinned to the front plate securing thick brass chamfered plates, the high quality month-going train with Graham-type deadbeat escapement, later wood rod pendulum, the case with detached brass capped and reeded columns supporting the pediment with blind gallery frets, the trunk with breakarch door and resting on a later skirted plinth; associated, movement circa 1760 and case circa 1780 -- 83½ in. (214 cm.) high
