A Black Forest carved walnut cuckoo wall clock
the case of typical form with gabled roof surmounted by a stag head trophy with inset glass eyes, with crossed rifles below (damage to antlers and one rifle), a door to the arch revealing the polychrome painted cuckoo, the case flanked by carved hanging models of a hare and a pheasant, the bezel formed as an Alpen horn, with belt and tassels hanging from it to two young pheasants below forming the apron, the dial with ebonised chapter ring applied with bone Arabic numerals, turned centre and carved bone hands, the typical brass frame movement with bellows to each side and strike on gong to the back door, with carved oak leaf pendulum, German, 19th century -- 55½in.(141cm.) high
