A FINE GRAPHIC RECORD OF THE PEOPLE AND PLACES INVOLVED IN THE 'BOXER REBELLION' OF 1900. This album, published in Japan shortly after the conclusion of the military expedition which occupied Beijing, recalls the action from the perspective of one of the victorious allies that made up the punitive force sent to China. Major-General Adna R. Chaffee, in command of the American force, noted in his report to the War Office, that the make-up of the force was: 'Japanese about 8,000; Russian, 4,800; British, about 3,000; American, 2,100; French, 800.' The illustrations include a mixture of views of scenes of the various military actions, together with a number of fine group portraits of the main participants.
