the rectangular plaques painted in famille rose enamels with a continuous scene of figures on riverbanks, crossing bridges and in boats in a mountainous river landscape below lines of calligraphy, all within a dark brown carved hardwood frame -- 35 x 20½in. (89 x 52cm.)
