An iron tsuba pierced and roundly carved with openwork scrolling, signed Bushu ju Akasaka Tadatoki, 18th-19th century, 8.1cm.; a lozenge-shaped iron tsuba with scrolling in openwork and deeply-cut logs among waves, with some details in gold inlay, a log bears in 'mirror writing' the invocation to the Lotus Sutra 'Namu Myoho Renge Kyo' in gold nunome zogan, with a fukurin of two-coloured shibuichi, 18th century, 9.3cm.; a daisho pair of round iron tsuba with shakudo fukurin pierced and roundly carved with the subjugation of a group of demons by armed warriors in a seaside landscape, with details in shakudo, copper, gold, and silver inlay, Soten style, 19th century, 7.8cm. and 7.5cm.; an elongated round iron tsuba with uchikaeshi-mimi and design of Amida yasurime [radial marks expressing the radiance of Amida Buddha], with auspicious emblems and treasures in enamel within gold wire cloisonné, mumei, attributed to Akita Shoami School, 17th-18th century, 6.3cm.; a mokko-shaped iron tsuba with marumimi and butterflies in sukidashibori, signed Miyashita Tadamasa with kakihan, 19th century, 8.5cm. Lot Essay

The second tsuba: An inscription on the lid of the box by Dr. Sato Kanzan indicates Hirado ware.
The fourth tsuba accompanied by a Hozon Tosogu [Sword Fitting Worthy of Preserving] certificate no.446162, issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai [Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword] on 13 April 2004.
The fifth tsuba accompanied by a Hozon Tosogu [Sword Fitting Worthy of Preserving] certificate no.444134, issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai [Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword] on 15 April 2003.
