A group of four tea bowls (CHAWAN)
19th/20th century
A bowl with outward sloping sides and a wide mouth covered in a grey-white glaze, the interior depicting Daruma in a red cloak, the exterior with a river landscape, a red seal mark.16 cm. diam.; an irregular shaped bowl with outward sloping sides, the upper part covered with a crackled grey glaze and the under part including the foot covered in a dark brown glaze, 15.5 cm. diam.; an irregularly shaped large bowl, the dark brown body covered with a grey-green glaze, the upper part with a band of crackled white glaze with running down in drops, 18.5 cm. diam.; and a very large irregular bowl covered in a green glaze accentuated in strokes of blue and dark green, the interior with four spur marks, 30 cm. diam., 9 cm. high.
