QAJAR IRAN, 19TH CENTURY
Each rising from a cusped tumpet foot to a bulbous drop-shaped body, narrow neck and flaring cusped rim, with two large handles in the form of curling arabesques, the entire surface covered with etched and damascened decoration, on the foot a frieze of hunters below a band of kufic with figures in roundels above, the body with figures amongst a lattice of interlinked palmettes beneath a band of silver damascened thuluth inscription panels, beneath large multi-figure scenes within a grid of gold damascened decoration of swirling arabesques, continuing up to flaring rim
