Mathilde-Laetitia-Wilhemine Bonaparte was the daughter of Jérome Bonaparte, Napoleon's youngest brother, and Catherine of Wurtemberg. She was also the cousin of Napoleon III. In 1841 she married the wealthy Russian Prince Anatole Demidoff, Count of San Donata. The marriage did not last. After the fall of the second empire in 1870 she moved to Belgium, returning to France and dying there in 1904. Princess Mathilde was an artist, specialising in watercolour and pastel, and exhibiting at the Salon from 1859 to 1867.
