Lot Essay

Badger Dingle was designed in the 1780s as a picturesque valley by the landscape designer William Emes (1729-1803) who had studied under Capability Brown. The original surrounding landscape was enhanced by the development of a series of pools and cascades along the course of the stream, and by erecting monuments and neo-classical follies at suitable visual points.
