A mid 19th-Century brass and ferrous metal model of a vertical reversing single cylinder pear crank stationary engine,
the base stamped Parrys Foundry Chester 1855 and Restored by John Parry 1976, the floor mounted cylinder 1¼in. bore x 2½in. stroke with centrally mounted valve chest, separate steam ways, the wasted valve spindle crosshead driven by two droplinks with weighted 'lift-off' eccentric rod and slip eccentric reverse, the crankshaft mounted in trunnions in turn mounted on a table supported on four tapered columns, the tapered connecting rod with wedged and bolted big end, the crosshead running in pierced vertical guides and spoked balanced flywheel, finished in red and polished brightwork and mounted on a wood base --40.5 x 22.2cm. (16 x 8¾in.)
