A rare Montanari-type wax mask with muslin covering
with bright blue inset eyes, the mask attached to the stuffed cloth head with pins at the side, the rigid limb body with crude black kid arms, with original dotted muslin robe, red wool cape and frilled bonnet, mid 19th century --9in. (22cm.) high; and an early English poured wax doll, the dark eyes wired to the centre of the rigid coarse linen body, with wax arms and outspread hands, wearing long silk stockings, shift and spotted muslin high-waisted frock edged with lace -- circa 1815, 13½in. (34cm.) high (damaged and repaired), with a photograph of the doll set as a postcard in 1907 (2)
