Lot Essay

Stephen Adam (1848-1910) was a stained-glass artist. Born in Edinburgh, Adam was apprenticed with the Edinburgh company of stained-glass makers Ballantyne & Allan. He set up his own studio in Bath Street, Glasgow in 1870. His style was modern and his work includes domestic as well as ecclesiastical stained glass.
