Lot Essay

Accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming Manufacture of the present watch in 1963 and its subsequent sale on
6 December 1963.

This watch is thought to be the only example of a reference 2597 fitted with a gilt sunburst finished dial. It appears to have been originally sold by Lane Crawford, the renowned Hong Kong jewellers and retailers, who supplied the gold bracelet. The ensemble has a typical modernistic look, lesser known on this reference, but generally found in 1960s watches.

Production of reference 2597 with movement caliber 12'''400 HS for heures sautantes or jumping hours, was launched in 1958.

Reference 2597 was made in two versions; the first features an independently adjustable hour hand whereas the second, introduced in 1962, includes an additional hour hand.

The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, pp. 238 & 239.
