The mission of the National Bureau of Standards founded on 3 March 1901 and renamed NIST for National Institute of Standards and Technology is to develop and promote measurement, standards, and technology to enhance productivity.
In association with the Horological Institute of America, the Bureau tested watches which then obviously were given a Certificate similar to the Bulletins d'Observatory.
Marcus & Co.
Marcus & Co. were renowned jewelers and retailers of Patek Philippe watches in New York, founded towards the end of the 19th century. In 1962, the company merged with Black, Starr & Frost, also one of Patek Philippe's retailers in the US.
