THIRD EDITION, revised by Luther. Recognising the role that personal prayer books played in lives of the populace, Luther adopted the familiar form but replaced the content with Biblical and liturgical text in line with his desire to disseminate the Scripture as widely as possible. He incorporated into it a translation of three chapters of the Book of Titus in advance of the first edition of his German Bible printed later the same year. Benzing 1275.
