A SILVER-GILT MOUNTED MEISSEN BALUSTER COFFEE-POT AND COVER
CIRCA 1740, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK AND PRESSNUMMER 11, GILDER'S 13. TO BOTH, THE PARIS MOUNTS WITH AN INDISTINCT DECHARGE
Probably painted by B.G. Hauer, with a continuous estuary scene, the shore with merchants at discussion by cargo, a crane, a moored ship and a fortified building with a tower, the foreground with cargo almost in silhouette, before distant ships, a galleon and two islands with fortified buildings, above a double iron-red line border, a Gitterwerk border at the rim, the gilt spout edged with gilt scrolls, the scroll handle with pendant interlocking puce and gilt scrolls, the domed cover with a continuous scene and gilt cone finial, the gadrooned hinged mount with a foliate thumbpiece (lower terminal restored, chipping and area of wear to gilding of spout applied with gold paint, slight wear to gilding, minute scratch to rocks below ship)
