The centre painted with figures by a canal and an elaborate pavilion within quatrefoil cartouches with gilt diaper panels edged in puce, black and red scrolls, the well with four sprays of indianische Blumen dividing four further vignettes on the border, with figures in a barge, merchants in conversation on a shore, figures at discussion before a tower, on horseback and a shepherd watching over his livestock, in wooded and river-landscapes within elongated shaped gilt cartouches with hatched and diaper panels edged with dark-brown lines and gilt, red and puce scrolls, within a gilt line border, the underside with four groups of flowerheads (areas of slight wear)

Hoffmeister, Katalog der Sammlung Hoffmeister (Hamburg, 1999), Vol. I, fig. 88, and where he points out that an extensive service of this pattern is in the Royal Danish Collection at Rosenborg Castle.
