Lot Essay

One of a group of three drawings of this composition associated with Joos de Momper, the others in the Küpferstichkabinett, Dresden and formerly with Karl und Faber, Munich (T. Gerszi, 'Joos de Momper als Zeichner', Jahrbuch des Berliner Museen, 1993, 182, figs. 10 and 21), which may depend on a lost composition by Lodewijk Toeput, il Pozzoserrato.
We are grateful for Dr. Terez Gerszi's help in preparing this note.
