Lot Essay

This bust of a High Priestess is after the model by Louis-Simon Boizot (1743-1809). Examples exist in a number of different media; a Sèvres bisque porcelain reduction is in the musée du Louvre, and is illustrated in J. Durand, The Louvre Objets d'Art, London, 1995, p.106.
