A QUANTITY OF LOUIS XV GREEN-PAINTED AND PARCEL-GILT BOISERIE PANELLING
MID-18TH CENTURY
Comprising: four panels carved with tied bows suspending musical trophies within floral-entwined shaped rectangular panels above shell and foliate-carved wainscotting panels; four wider similarly-carved panels with further mouldings; four narrower similarly-carved panels, two with ribbon-tied musical trophies and two with ribbon tied theatrical trophies; eight later panels of two different widths, with the reverse panelled and finished, largely hinged to be used as doors, carved with floral-entwined panels and shells; three similar panels carved with floral-entwined panels and shells (one with a thin fitment panelling attached); eight pieces of narrow fitment panelling carved with shells, scrolls and foliate shaped panels, some with later egg-and-dart moulding; eight lengths of floral-carved moulding; one short piece of panelling carved overall with a foliate panel, variously numbered to the reverse in white chalk 'E2948' and in yellow chalk '5117'
The Panelling comprises: 4 similar panels carved with musical trophies, 86 x 32½ in., with various keyholes and small additions of fitment wood and previously hinged with consequential holes (two illustrated); 4 larger similar panels carved with musical trophies: 1 panel 92 x 36½ in. (photographed); 2 panels 93 x 42¾ in. with added fitment at side and egg-and-dart moulding at top (one photographed); 1 panel 92 x 41¼; 4 similar panels, two carved with theater trophies, two with musical trophies (one of each photographed): 90½ in x 24in; 91 x 24 in; 91½ in. 24 in; 91½ in. x 25 in; 8 later panels finished and panelled to the reverse, similarly carved but without trophies to the front and all but one with hinges (some now lacking) and keyholes to function as doors all approximately 82 in. high (one illustrated); 3 are 20¾ in. wide; 5 are 17¼ in. wide; 8 pieces of narrow fitment panelling carved with shaped foliate panels and shells, 91 in. x 6 in. approx, some with egg-and-dart later moulding applied which is at that point 7½ in. wide (one photographed); 3 pieces of panelling with similar carving all 92 in. high, one 13 in. wide, one 14¾ in. wide, one 13½ in. wide (one with a piece of fitment panelling attached); 8 lengths of floral-carved moulding (approx 85 in. high); 1 piece of partial thin fitment panelling, cut; 1 piece egg-and-dart carved moulding, approx 49 in. high; 2 pieces larger motif probably associated floral giltwood moulding 60 and 67 in. long; 1 smaller piece of similarly carved panelling, 63 in. x 13¼ in.; 1 large carton of assorted pieces of moulding and fitments
