The rectangular top with pierced three-quarter gallery above a tambour cylinder enclosing a configuration of three large compartments over four small mahogany-lined drawers, one fitted for writing implements, over a pull-out leather-lined writing slide, above two short and one long frieze drawer, one previously fitted, on fluted turned tapering legs headed by square paterae mounts ending in ormolu caps, stamped 'J.F.LELEU', with white chalk number to underside '6684' and partial typed label 'desk [Louis XVI], signed LELEU', stamped to top of left drawer lining, the handles replaced in the 19th century
