The first depicting two putti with a lion, the attribute of the Earth deity Cybele, an overturned urn and a dolphin; the second with two putti above a salamander,the attribute of Fire personified, emerging from flames; each on a naturalistic rectangular base; the Régence ormolu bases each with a bolection moulded frieze above a central cartouche-form mask with ribbon-tied hair and diadem tiara, flanked by stylised rosettes with pounced panels with husk spandrels, the sides with lambrequin sprays above a rosette-studded arched apron and on acanthus-scrolled feet; warm dark brown patina with chocolate brown high points, the ormolu masks to the plinths regilt
The bronzes - 10½ in. (26.5 cm.) and 10¾ in. (27 cm.) high; 16 in. (45.5 cm.) high, overall; the plinths - 5¼ in. (13.5 cm.) high; 8½ in. (21 cm.) wide; 7½ in. (19 cm.) deep (2)
