'An especially charming example of this aspect of his work is Maquette Standing Girl. This has almost the air of being a fashion plate translated into three dimensions, with the three legs giving the kind of effect seen in simultaneous photographs, the figure actually appearing to be in motion. Her arms swing outwards from her sides, and a feature as one rotates the sculpture is that they too seem to be in motion when seen from different angles. The torso, with its wasp waist and rounded hips, has lost the typical angularity of so much of Chadwick's work. The one thing that remains firmly geometrical is the pyramidal head' (E. Lucie-Smith, loc. cit).
