Mantofani's versatility in working with 3-dimensional and 2-dimensional media gives him many options to choose from. He is very meticulous and gives very much thought into the process of creating his works. He starts off by being very selective in the media he uses. The uniqueness in feel and look of the chosen media and the manner of interaction the media will have with each other is carefully pondered over in order to bring out the best in the work. From there the conceptualising begins.
Industrial materials such as metals, nuts and bolts etc. appear frequently in his work. In Sebuah Kebenaran (The truth), he incorporated numerous screws which he aligned in the centre to be pushed through the surface of the canvas. The contrast of the physicality of the metal applied on the flat canvas is interesting to him. The resistant, hard-edge, strong and unmalleable quality of the metal screws against the pliable liquid flow of the paint trickling down the plane of the canvas excites the visual aesthetic. The protruding metal tips adding another dimension to the painting indicative of his attempt at combining his experience of 3-dimensional media at 2-dimensional levels. The use of the stark white background showcases the fascinating textures, as intended by Mantofani.

Along with his peers including Yunizar and Handiwirman, Mantofani is part of the Kelompok Seni Rupa Jendela (literally translated to be The Window Visual Art Group) group of young artists from West Sumatra.
