A Regency carved mahogany mantel timepiece with quarter repeat
Grant, London No. 215. Circa 1805
The case with brass flambeau urn finial to the concave moulded pedestal atop the arched case flanked by carved volutes with rosette terminals, geometrically pierced sound fret to the solid rear door, the white enamel dial signed Grant Fleet Street No. 215, blued steel spade hands, the movement with arched brass plates, anchor escapement with unusual pendulum regulation vial a cam wheel regulated by a blued steel hand with brass disc scale (0-60 S - F) to the top right corner of the backplate, pull quarter repeat on three bells via three hammers with rosette-engraved pulley on the backplate, the backplate engraved with a ribbon-tied floral garland cartouche centred by the signature Grant Fleet Street London No. 215
