While hunting and fishing are treated in greatest detail, the inclusion of racing (pp.18-21), tennis (pp.28-30) and cock-fighting (pp.30-34) help make this sporting compendium of singular rarity and interest. The tennis section includes a poem, 'The Tennis Court', in seven stanzas, ending with a pun on the love score: 'Thus in the tennis-court, love is/A pleasure mixt with pain'. NOT IN BL.
