Uniform early-20th century red calf gilt by Root & Son, the spines in six compartments with raised bands, green morocco title labels to the second and fourth compartments, the others tooled with sporting motifs in gilt, gilt turn-ins, numerous original wrappers bound in (occasional light scuffing). Provenance: C.F.G.R. Schwerdt (bookplate; his sale, 15 July 1946, lot 2628).
THE SCHWERDT COPY: A RARE, FINELY-BOUND, RUN OF THIS IMPORTANT PERIODICAL. The BL catalogue notes that "From 1845 the vols. of this periodical are identical with those of the “New Sporting Magazine, with the exception of the titlepages, etc. See lots 726 and 729. Schwerdt II, p.216. (23)
