the six cordial glasses in sterling and engraved with the New York Yacht Club burgee and the private signal of J.W. Mellon. The water thermos, in chrome, and of typical form with a hinged lid and marked on the bottom with the maker "The American Thermos Company".

Lot Essay

The steam yacht Vagabondia was designed by A.D. Stevens and built by Merrill, Stevens Engine Co. in Jacsksonville, FL., for Mr. William L. Mellon. Vagabondia had principal dimensions of LOA: 93 ft., LWL: 90 ft., and a Beam: 22 ft. William L. Mellon served with the Gulf Oil from 1909 to 1930 and, despite the Depression, Gulf Oil, under Mellon's management, became the nation's fourth largest oil producer and ranked among the top five integrated companies in the world.
