An attractive late 19th-century American 16-inch diameter terrestrial library globe

U.S. PATENTS JAN.1ST & MAY 21ST 1867 AP[...]1877 SEPT.23RD OCT.14TH & 28TH 1879 FRENCH PATENTS APL.6TH 1877 ENGLISH PATENTS APL.3RD 1877, OCT.3RD 1879 on an applied cartouche surmounted by an eagle with banner and Latin motto, the globe made up of two sets of twelve chromolithographed and hand-coloured half-gores, with graduated equatorial, ecliptic, equinoctial colure and Greenwich meridian, the equatorial subdivided in minutes and applied with labels at the appropriate longitudes reading TIME beneath the names of London, Rio de Janeiro, New York, Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, Honolulu, Sydney, Yeddo, Calcutta, Bombay and St Petersburg, the oceans with an analemma, ocean currents, submarine telegraph cables and isothermic lines for January and July, the Antarctic with several small portions of coastline shown, the continents with nation states shaded and outlined in yellow, orange and green and showing towns, cities, rivers, mountains in pictorial relief, deserts and caravan routes, the aluminium axis rod in the form of an arrow, with stamped aluminium meridian circle and horizon ring papered on both sides graduated in twice 1-12 hours, with one-minute subdivisions, the meridian raised on a gilt-bronze stand with acanthus-decorated inverse tulip-shaped column over a baluster section between four legs with scroll-shaped dragon's heads and ball and claw feet
