The headboard with Vitruvian scroll frieze with fluted pilaster
supports each headed by a foliate patera, the base with stencilled inscription QUIGNON/PARIS, the panelled footboard with similar supports and frieze, joined by rectangular side-rails, on circular tapering spirally-fluted feet

Gustave-Frédéric Quignon took over the firm established by his father, Napoléon, in around 1849 in 1874. Under the name of 'Quignon Fils et Cie.', he diversified the company's production, exhibited at the principal international exhibitions and supplied furniture to the Mobilier national. He was awarded a gold medal at the Paris 1878 Exposition universelle.
